I am going to suggest hospital.

It’s been a long night. My daughter Prue is back here with me as she is still unwell. At least by being here, she feels happier( although she misses her bed and her cat) and I can look after her. I am going to suggest that we go to the hospital because I fear she may be dehydrating, as she cannot tolerate fluids at all.Yesterday , she did manage to keep some gastrolite down but not now.It is also essential that she takes medication, so this may have to be given by intramuscular injection.

Thank you to all those special people who have sent their best to Prue. She is quite chuffed  🙂

  1. Dear Maureen:

You and I have so much in common. I cannot get into the details here. I will pray for you and your daughter. Everything will be fine. Have faith.

  2. Maureen:
One last thing. Insist that the hospital get a specialist in to see your daughter. Insist, demand that a specialist see your daughter. Gastroenterologist perhaps.

  3. Maureen,
Go with your instincts. I shall do what I can here and lift up a prayer for Prue (and for you!) during tomorrow morning’s service.

  4. Dear Lee,
You are always so kind. I appreciate your prayers and I am certain Prue does too. One day we must exchange long emails!

  5. Prue had been in my Prayers since “that day”, and today, tomorrow, day after tomorrow, and day that follows.

    You take care too Maureen.

  6. Hi Lee,
Thank you so much. You too have been in my thoughts and prayers since”that day”. I think it was a conversation we were meant to have 🙂

  7. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s illness. Hope you and she soon find the proper medicine. Sending my wishes for a speedy recovery. — James

  8. Maureen,

I haven’t been on in almost 24 hours, so I’m a bit behind. I am so sorry to hear about Prue. I agree that going to the hospital is imperative now, at least to hydrate her and get her medicines in.

Please know that I truly undersand what you are going through and will keep you in my thoughts constantly until you feel up to an update.

    Take care. Hugs.

  9. Hi Lita,
Thank you so much.Prue is asleep and resting now but at least last night she was able to tolerate some fluids. She was insistent that she did not want to go to hospital! I will keep a check on her fluid balances and ensure she does not dehydrate.
Hugs to you for being such a good friend.
    Maureen 🙂

  10. Maureen,

I’m going to tell you something: There was a time when someone insisted that I go to the hospital, and I completely resisted, because in my mind, that would have been defeat. It would have meant that I had finally lost control of the situation. I was wrong then, but it took me many years to realize it, and I probably suffered more because of it.

You know your daughter better than anyone, but she needs reassurance that getting help is not defeat.

But as always, in your care she feels safe and enveloped in safety, and I know that you take some solace in that and the face that she is trying to ingest some fluids.

Take very good care. I’m up all hours of the night, so I’ll check back in.

  11. Hi Lita,
You sound headstrong like me.Sometimes we don’t always know what’s best for us at the time! Prue , I am happy to report is so much better and my concerns about her fluid intake and output are no longer an issue.I feel that she will enjoy her birthday after all, even it is low key for the time being.
My heartfelt thanks to you for all your concern. It really does mean so much. Hugs

  12. Maureen,

I’m glad that Prue is doing better. I hope that this upward trend continues.
