Unconditional love, that no amount of money can buy!

The week end is almost here and with it will come an end to  incessant marketing of Mother’s Day (which is on Sunday). It is been a constant feature  for the past two months of TV, radio, newspapers and of course that never ending junk mail that appears each day in the mail box! It’s is nothing more that a commercial exercise and I am over it.

Mother’s Day, like Father’s Day should not be a one day a year reminder for off spring to pay some attention to their parent, lavish them with gifts or take some time out to visit or make a phone call. Parents generally speaking, do not want gifts, lavish dinners or cheesy cards on that one day a year, what they want is a great relationship with their children all year. That doesn’t mean being in each other’s pockets daily but a relationship where children know they loved and can always discuss anything with their parents and parents know that they are respected and loved by their children.Unconditional love, that no amount of money can buy!

We have a birthday celebration to go to tomorrow, which should be lovely. It is going to be a casual affair and it is still undecided whether it will be held at their home or everyone will go out for a meal. Guess it will be a surprise  for everyone!

Have a great week end 🙂

  1. Happy Mum’s Day, Maureen.

Totally agree in the whole marketing gimmick. Holidays should mean something and be more than a reason to buy outrageously expensive cards.

  2. Hi Maureen,

    Happy Mother’s Day.

I like what you’ve just mentioned.

    Best Wishes.

  3. Hi Lita,
Thank you so much!I am glad to know you feel the same way because when I have mentioned it to a few acquaintances, they have jumped down my throat and told me I was mad not to expect lavish gifts! I think we have out priorities right, don’t you?
    Have a fabulous day.
    Maureen 🙂
