New Year’s Eve here was a quiet affair, although there was a magnificent thunderstorm, which lasted for about two hours. Absolutely spectacular, lightning, thunder and much better than any manufactured pyrotechnic display that was also happening at various locations throughout the city on the night. Then again last night, at sunset the sky turned an eerie yellow colour and shortly after, another terrific storm! I should have taken some photos but I didn’t even think of it as I was totally into enjoying the moment. Chevy, of course sought out a safe hiding spot and remained there until the storms passed but Bea was not fazed at all and sat on the couch, oblivious to noise of the thunder but then Chev does have issues.
On New Year’s Eve,the neighbourhood at midnight was the quietest I can remember.Maybe the neighbours across the back had exhausted their supply of fireworks and loud crackers, as they had been setting them off on a regular basis since before Christmas! I wonder if one of the other neighbours had had enough and informed the police about them, since fireworks are illegal here?
The downside to New Year’s Eve was when a friend who was visiting went to get into his car to leave, he noticed someone had either hit his side mirror, or kids had vandalised it. It was hanging off his car, attached by a solitary cable. He was less than impressed, especially since the car is a Mercedes-Benz and replacing the mirror is going to be very expensive!
Nothing much has been going on here as the family seems to have really embraced kick back mode! I am getting a bit twitchy as I am ready to get back into some sort of routine but that’s me, I can’t stay still for more than five minutes. Ha ha. 🙂
